Walk into any clinic, showroom or restaurant in India and you will see a standee at the entrance. For years that meant a printed flex or roll-up banner. Today more businesses are switching to digital standees: a floor-standing screen that plays images and videos you can change any time. Which one is right for you?
How a printed standee works
A printed standee is a one-time graphic. It is quick to order and costs little for a single design. The catch is that it can only ever say one thing. A new offer, a new price or a new festival means designing and printing again, then storing or throwing away the old one.
How a digital standee works
A digital standee is a commercial display in a sturdy stand with a built-in Android media player. You copy your images and videos to a USB pen drive, or update them remotely over Wi-Fi or LAN using CMS software, and the screen plays them on a loop. Our standees run for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Side-by-side comparison
| Printed standee | Digital standee | |
|---|---|---|
| Changing the message | Reprint every time | Update in minutes by USB or CMS |
| Number of messages | One | Many, in rotation |
| Video and motion | No | Yes |
| Visibility in a busy space | Easy to ignore | Bright, moving content catches the eye |
| Upfront cost | Low | Higher, one-time |
| Running cost | A new print for every campaign | Electricity only |
When a digital standee pays off
- You change offers often. Restaurants with daily specials, retail stores with weekly sales and real estate offices with new launches save on reprints quickly.
- You have several messages. A clinic can rotate doctor profiles, treatments and health tips on one screen instead of three printed boards.
- You want to stand out. Motion and brightness pull attention in a way a static print cannot, especially in malls and lobbies.
- You run multiple locations. With CMS, one person can update every branch at once.
When a printed standee is still fine
If you need a sign for a single one-day event, or the message will not change for months, a print is the simpler choice. Many businesses use both: a digital standee at the entrance and printed signs elsewhere.
The bottom line
A digital standee costs more on day one but keeps working for every campaign after that, with no reprints. If your message changes more than a few times a year, it is usually the better investment.
